BE COOL HONEY BUNNY, BE COOL.
I just realized that the online podcasting service I use has a VERY limited amount of space-- I can only host about a show at a time on there. It's free, so what can you expect? But anyhow, I just wanted to let you all know that every show will be online for just a week after live airing... so you best hop on that!
Toro Y Moi: Causers of This
I mentioned this on air a while back, but I love Toro Y Moi. Playing any of their songs on air is a blast (literally) because of all the oscillating bass. If it wasn't illegal, I would totally play the entirety of "Causers of This" on air.
I'm strongly reminded of the nineties when I listen to "Causers of This," but in a good way. Grab your neon-colored windbreakers, neon scrunchies, and LA Gear sneakers girls and boys, because we are going to dance all up in hurr.
However, it's the lower key songs that really get me. The calm groove, synth, otherworldly vocals, and drum machine are really memorable. For me, there's a distinct way I feel after listening to one of these songs: I'm light and heavy at the same time... kind of like when you fly into a cloud. You know they're really light and fluffy, but once you've descended into it, you realize all you can see around you is this whiteness that is much more solid than you originally thought.*
Listen: Talamak, Blessa, You Hid
*I swear I'm sober.

Cibelle
I just got her 2006 album The Shine of Dried Electric Leaves, and I can't stop listening to "Green Grass." The video is just as beautiful as the song.

Wandering: 2/3 Playlist
Hi all, here's the (working) playlist for today's show. As always, it's a rather eclectic mix-- a little bit of the Beatles tossed in with Asobi Seksu, with a dash of J. Tillman for good measure to sweeten the ending.
Also, if you haven't heard yet, the new Asobi Seksu album Rewolf is out. I haven't listened to too much A.S. until now, although I do love me some shoegaze. But Rewolf is very acoustic-based... pretty different from the other albums I've listened to. And with me, anything acoustic is aaawesome.
No Other One | Weezer (opening with an old favorite)
Old Flames | Harlem Shakes
Kick It | Hello Tokyo
Gliss | Asobi Seksu
Don't Let Me Down | The Beatles
Shelter | The XX
Jogging Gorgeous Summer | Islands
Still True | Feist
Your Great Book | Teitur
Losing You | Havalina Rail Co.
Seven States Across | J. Tillman
The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get | Sharon Van Etten (this is a gorgeous beast of a song)
Stand Still | The Album Leaf
Just Let Go | Mae (and of course, ending with an old favorite. and by old, i mean "from high school.")
If you're reading this after 11 AM, a recording of the show is up for listening HERE.
